the week recap! week of: 4/1/25 - 4/7/25
⛅️ something to celebrate: the orange by wendy cope! a handful of years ago, I stumbled upon this cute little poem called “The Orange” by Wendy Cope on Pinterest. I instantly fell in love with its sweet way of describing platonic love & quality time! I remember longing for these words to pierce my heart & become so real, only for it to hit the surface & fall short of describing the days I had been living as I was through the motions. recently, the Lord has delicately placed this poem back into my heart to serve as a reminder of the power of prayer & His faithfulness to His children. now, these words have come flying off the page into my reality! & that orange, it made me so happy, as ordinary things often do.
He has faithfully provided me with holy community - so in awe of His powerful hand! the Spirit whispers reminders of gratitude & not taking this season for granted in my ear. for once, I don’t feel the overwhelming urge to go home for a weekend - this holy community that has been gifted to me feels like home. an answered prayer! all those nights spent crying out for a Christian community, the Lord was wiping my tears & preparing me for this moment - the holy friendships that He knew He would eventually be able to bless me with. as I’ve mentioned before on here, those tears sunk into the ground like a seed, waiting to sprout up into an oak of laugher!
one of the verses I have been mediating on as of recent is Luke 1:45, when Elizabeth speaks encouragement over Mary after she said yes to being the Lord’s willing vessel & carrying Jesus in her womb, “blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” God always keeps His promises. you haven’t yet met all of the people you will love & all of the people who will love you! I love you. I’m glad I exist.
⛅️ something out of my comfort zone: holy rest is more than just a nap! the other day, I confided in my friends Kayla & Susan about how I had been feeling as though I wasn’t properly resting in the Lord’s embrace & using my time wisely to do so. then, Kayla hit me with the question: “well, what does holy rest look like?” girl, idk?! this little question made me stop in my tracks, & right then I knew I needed to pray about it. the only person who could reveal to me the answer to this question is the Spirit! so this week, I opened my heart up to Him & asked Him to teach me to rest in His presence + have fruitful time in His embrace.
lean back into the loving arms of a beautiful Father, breathe deep & know that He is good! He’s a love like no other.

the very root of this holy rest is a consecrated heart to unto the Lord & being rooted in prayer - because there is none holy like the Lord! in the wilderness, Jesus would pray to root Himself deeply in the Father’s love & purpose for Him.
“the Son of man is Lord over the Sabbath.” - Luke 6:5
God longs for us to digest His character & heart for His children through holy living. he wants us to be in open communication with Him & respect the Sabbath day! the 7th day was the apex of creation: rest. rest is holy! rest is a gift!
for the first time in my life, His peace has become overwhelmingly tangible to me! I wrote in my prayer journal the other day that “I can feel it drench my senses & capture my thoughts.” when the boat is made of peace, the waves of uncertainty will pass. my unrest bows down to the Prince of Peace! let me let you in on a little secret: Jesus never asked us to be busy.
may He flood our prayer closets & draw us closer to Him in rest, even if that means praising Him in a hallway & loving all who pass by. as Wendy Cope says in “The Orange:” this is peace & contentment. it’s new.
⛅️ something I’ve learned: even the accountant-type can spread the good news! at the Wesley Foundation this semester, we have slowly been going through the book of Acts & learning how to apply the Gospel into our daily lives as college students + how to continuously digest the good news. specifically, how to serve God every day with the right, purposeful heart posture. in Acts, Philip (one of the seven chosen to spread the good news + build up bodies of churches) is a main character! he is also someone who would probably be an accountant in modern times (the smart, behind the scenes kinda type). despite his human status, Philip rose & he went into obedience, putting one food in front of the other while expectant in the Spirit to move on his behalf. Acts 8:35 says, “then Philip opened His mouth, & beginning with this Scripture, he told him the good news about Jesus.”
life is finite & earth is only my temporary mission field - a sojourner. God is at work before I even get to where He wants me to go! His ways are grander than my own & His light is grand enough to shine through me. it’s more than grand enough! I long to be a willing vessel, waiting expectantly for His Spirit to move (just as Phil was). you have the gospel in your bones, will you share that joy?! Isaiah 52:7 says, “how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘your God reigns.’” live. preach the good news, die, & be forgotten!
recently, I’ve also been learning so much about His character & my prayer has been for Him to keep revealing Himself to me because He is the oxygen in my soul! knowing of His good, good character reminds me of how worth it it is to share the good news of Christ to others so they may experience this same joy. may His being be the sole object of our affection.
He is jealous, good, just, all-knowing, all-powerful, holy, provider, love, sovereign, all the fruits of the Spirit, gracious, helpful, kind, protector, merciful, & caring Father! & so, so much more!
when we experience grace that makes no sense, we live lives that make no sense! Jesus can do so much with your life because is in the business of raising people up - just as the Spirit moved through Philip, He can + will move through you if you let Him inside of your heart.
⛅️ something I’ve read: literally so many books! here’s a list of my recent reads:
Copenhagen by Michael Frayn - this was a read for school! it was a short 134 paged play about an important meeting in physics history (not really my forte). I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars! anytime I read a play, my eyes demand that I skip over at least two lines every page? anyways! Frayn has really done his research & has a really interesting/fun banter writing style! however, not a physics girly, so the content didn’t hit all the way…
Most of All You by Mia Sheridan - woah, so this author has written one of my favorite books of all time, so I had really high hopes for this one, but the plot missed the mark. it’s a literary fiction romance that was 341 pages & I gave it a 2.5 out of 5 stars! this was sweet! but it was giving an underwhelming version of Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers…Mia always has some beautiful quotes! however, not impressed by this.
make sure to check out my goodreads (linked on the blog’s homepage)!
my favorite new album has been Lady Gaga’s most recent one called “MAYHEM!” this is seriously a no-skip line up & it’s always on repeat in my car. one of my favorites from this one is “Blade of Grass” simply because I love words & this is literal poetry about love: “this is the lawn of memories I mourn. I fall into your eyes, shelter from storm! forever's not enough! come on & wrap that blade of grass around my finger like a cast.” my guilty pleasure artist is totally Lady Gaga if you can’t tell!
I hope each of you has a very happy rest of the week! love you! Jesus loves you! praying for you! peace! thank you for being here & I hope to see you again soon! 🕊️

“therefore, encourage one another & build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
I am so thankful for your holy community!!! And I love the poem! 💚
That is such a good poem, and it is the perfect reminder to find joy in the little things!! I love seeing the Godly community you have found, and I know the Lord has led you to where you need to be. Such good words, friend! 😆
