⛅️ let’s talk about how I’m going to honor my temple, lean into a healthier lifestyle, & invite the Spirit into the mundane this summer: this is a topic that’s been on my mind for about a month now, & it’s helped me lean into the Lord while being back home for the summer!

being brought up in between the 1990’s diet magazine culture & the 2010’s social media craze, I’ve definitely had my fair share of struggles with the idea of remaining healthy. for the longest time, I got stuck on believing that being healthy was a number on the scale & not a rewarding lifestyle that I could use to strengthen my faith walk. my body is a temple that houses the Spirit! & it’s the only one I get on this Earth!
1st Corinthians 6:19-20 reads, “what? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, & ye are not your own? for ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, & in your spirit, which are God's.”
late in my freshman year, I realized that if I didn’t prioritize taking care of myself, it would get bumped to the bottom of the priority list. to better prepare for next school year, I’ve decided to use my summer days wisely & explore what healthy habits I need to start prioritizing. the Lord convicted me, about a month ago, to stop thinking of my body so much as myself, but as His!
He also humbled me by revealing that I needed to invite His Spirit into these habits & my daily routine, or this topic would become obsessive & not productive. this is not a journey of identity or obsession or destructive change, but one of drawing closer to the Lord & honoring the temple that He blessed me with (instead of picking it apart)! Ephesians 2:10 says “for we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” I’ve learned that navigating health/fitness, especially as a Christian, is a very personal journey that takes time & trust in the Lord.
⛅️ habits I’m implementing this summer:
a consistent gym routine with my best friend, Elyse, as my gym buddy!
intentionally dressing modestly at the gym
fall back in love with running & strength training
a fun active activity once a week (swimming or pickleball) & trying the workout classes our gym offers!
listen to worship music on said runs!
not obsess over calorie counting, but eat whole foods with a balanced mindset & actually enjoy making my meals at home (+ saying grace before eating)!
making sure to iron out what holy rest looks like (I’m also challenging myself to read my Bible multiple times a day)
sleeping at least 8 hours every night
avoiding excess time around mirrors (we were never meant to see our reflections this much in a day)
getting outside as much as I can!

I hope you enjoyed the content of this post, even though it was shorter & a bit different than usual. in all honesty, I’m feeling a little burnt out/in a creative rut & need some more time away from the regular format on the blog. please forgive me! I’ll be retreating with the Father for inspiration until further notice. thank you for understanding, & I hope this encouraged you in some way!
recently, on my journey to invite the Holy Spirit further into the mundane, I’ve been trying my best to listen to Christian music a majority of the time. I’ve been shuffling through random playlists titled “that Christian girl” or “Christian girl workout” & even “soft indie Christian girl era” to try to find new songs that glorify the Lord & still sound as catchy as the secular ones do. “Evergreen Love” by Strings & Heart was one of the first new songs I listened to this week. I love this reminder: “in all of Your glory You came & covered Your blood on my blame. Your love is evergreen, it's everything!”
I hope each of you has a very happy rest of the week! love you! Jesus loves you! praying for you! peace! thank you for being here & I hope to see you again soon! 🕊️
